Can't wait to see Google Bard on KilledByGoogle

Google is known for its attempts to rival some of the most popular platforms and services in the market, and guess what, they always fail. Many times, Google has tried to create its own version of a popular platform, but they all end up in Killedbygoogle

For example, Google attempted to rival Facebook with the creation of Google+. Although it was initially well-received, it failed to attract a large enough user base to sustain its popularity and was eventually shutdown

Google also attempted to rival WhatsApp with Google Hangouts, but it did not live to see 2022.

Another example is Google's attempt to rival Twitter with Google Buzz. The platform was intended to be a microblogging site like Twitter, but it failed to gain the popularity that Twitter had achieved and was eventually shut down.

There are many other products that Google created as a form of rivalry and they all failed, and guess what, all the products their trying to rival are still thriving till this day.

I think thesame thing would happen to Bard, the demonstration they gave shows that Bard isn't even good enough to rival chatgpt.

So what do you guys think?

We'll just have to wait and see. It's modern tech warfare, so we may be in for a surprise.
Google may have lost some tech battles, but won fewer that are more valuable. And that's why they are where they are.
Their acquisitions in general still reflect one of the best portfolios. Talk of Youtube, Adsense and many others.

IMO Google's problem is failing to improve on what they have created. The real battle was about Google's Orkut vs Facebook. The platforms were launched almost the same time in 2004. Instead of Google improving Orkut where they had a lead, Google Plus, Hangout, Buzz and all other things started confusing the web. They just had too much money and thought it would be good to do everything.

Its is already killed when it answered incorrect in their first commercial LOL !

The difference is that this is Google's bread and butter. Providing info based on user input and queries is literally their most important product and the reason for why they are the 4th most valuable company in the world.

It's all based on how much user inputs they've got,
and guess what, they own the top search engine out there,
The rest is just trials and errors,
they will get the best working one

Yeah google has lots of inputs and data, even though open ai doesn't, the data they needed is all available for free on the web, and gpt is said to be a much more larger model than Lamda, its built to perform different task, while Lamda is designed specifically for tasks related to dialogue.
Google might improve Lamda but openai isn't staying in one spot, they're improving too.
And it takes years to train an ai model like GPT-3/4, so definitely, they can't actually complete with openai at the moment.

Maybe they're rushing it to catch up with chat gpt

Catching up with open ai would take time and open ai isnt staying on one spot, soon we'll see gpt 5, you can't just replicate years of work easily, as it takes years to train an ai model, openai started in 2015/16.
And Lamda was launched in 2021, and it isn't even trained for general tasks like gpt, also the quality of the training data, the architecture of the model, and the specific task the model is being used for are all important factors that can impact the performance of a language model, and I bet open ai killed those.

Google must fail again.
