Can't stand it anymore

I had severe depression for around ten years
From the age of 14-24. I'm now 32. When I was around 24 years old I started to feel better. I remember the feeling of looking at a bus driving past and imaging the relief of being hit by it so that the pain and hurt could go away. When I started to feel better, I began to realise that the depression was my enemy. He was trying to come in to my house and hurt me and my family. Fight him. I know its hard. Depression for me was like being at the bottom of the ocean. You cant rise to the top in a day. It takes time, patience. Remember a lion will sleep for 20-22 hours per day. But it is not known as a sleeping animal. Because what it does in them 2-4 hours in the day is amazing. We humans are the same. Get the the gym as has been mentioned. Kick your own ass there. Get yourself a guide who will start you off. Watch a load of videos on it. Its stupid and makes no sense, but we have been farmers for milleniums and it mimics that kind of work so it helps keep us occupied. Get out in nature as much as you can. Cycling is a huge stress relief, as is swimming.

I wish you all the best in your journey, in telling the bad thoughts to stay quiet and, getting some good days in the bank. Let them good days accumulate and it will help you to deal better with the bad ones.

Im really bad with this stuff, I have been there. I know sometimes a lot of the words people try to tell you when you are bad fly over our heads.
I just want to add my voice to the number of people telling you not to go through with you know what and to get help.

Thank you so much, guys, for your good words. I'll try to kick my own ass, as my family members would tell me, haha. I'm 32 as well @neo2, not married, no kids, when everyone around me is buying a house and having kids, I'm just here, lonely girl, trying to do some pennies online, pathetic I'd say.

Dude too many opportunity out there Don't be foolish and take a wrong step.

I'm the same, no family at the moment. I think family keeps you occupied, but we have to find other ways to live up to our potential as much as we can. When you kick your own ass, its not because the feelings are yours. You are kicking the depression and anxiety out of you. Gardening is good aswell. Earning money is great. But once you have paid your bills and a little left over, it doesnt really do much else. All our pursuits are pathetic. Learn to love it. The animals go about their pathetic business every day, do you think a cat ever feels pathetic? Nope, it knows its the centre of the universe. Make sure you get enough sunshine. Travel to areas that are safe and relaxed and sit in coffee shops and read books. Go to health shop and buy each vitamin seperately (not multi vitamins, they dont contain the right ammounts) make sure you are not malnourished. It can be a vicious circle of fatigue and depression. Strength training at the gym helps with that aswell. It forces you to look after yourself if you want to progress. Your mind deals with stress and anxiety better and when you life your body goes into fight or flight as your brain thinks you are in danger. It learns to deal with tension and overcome it in a healthy way.

The analogy with cats made me smile, thank you so much <3

I'm not an expert, but I will just speak from my own experience.

In the last few months, I was in depression too, it was not related to money, I was making more than enough in my country. Also, I wasn't lonely, I'm married and I have a couple of kids that keep me company.

Stable financial life and a stable family but I was sad all the time, and nothing makes me really happy except when I see my kids playing around. I was empty from the inside.

After some thought, I found that this materialistic world was sucking my soul and it was screaming. I have since returned to god and started doing spiritual things that my religion dictates and that helped me get out of that situation.

I haven't reached any suicidal thoughts yet, but I was really tired of this life.

So maybe you need some spirituality in your life as well, you can start by watching debates on Youtube between religious scholars ..etc to learn more about the different religions and stuff like that. Get closed to God.

Of course this along with any other good advice other members provided in this thread. I'm sure you are not the only one with this issue and your thread will help a lot of users here.

I wish you a quick recovery.

Can I onvercome this? Right now, this seems so good to be true.
A little late to the conversation here, but it's just a matter of setting a goal and going for it.

Not pathetic at all. Entrepreneur life is 99% of failure, and 1% of success that will overshadow the rest. The path to success is failure.

More importantly, outside of money/status/success considerations, what counts in life is doing what makes you happy. Not what the society tell you to do. If being a nerd makes you happy then go for it, like most of us. Nothing pathetic about going your own way.
