Can't rank in Google .co.uk

I'm having some difficulty ranking my site in google.co.uk search results but have ranked 9th in Google.com.

Is there any pointers so that my site will begin to rank in .co.uk?

A simple way, if it's a quality site, is to change the GEO setting in Google webmaster tools. We had one very successful site that was killing it on .com, yet it was for a UK service. Changing it to UK Geo, sorted it immediately.

If it's a low-quality site that you don't want on G's radar then just try building some UK links through UK IP's, and get links from .co.uk domains.

Is your server located in the UK? What domain extension do you have?

This is a Scottish service, so it's pointless ranking it on Gooogle.com and not .co.uk.

I guess the only positive thing is it's probably more difficult to rank on Google.com than .co.uk, so we should get a decent position when it's finally sorted.

The server is located in the USA but that shouldn't make a difference. It's a .org.

mentioning in webmaster is the best idea.

if you dont to register your site in webmaster, there is a meta tag to specify targeted country. you can add that too.

I had somatimes instant results with changing the targeted country in Google Webmasters Tools, plus backlinks from co.uk sites would be a nice touch.

a local listing would be a great method. try to search directory that are based on your geo location. and find some UK based website and try to exchange links with them. target locally.

Interested too. Me and partner had the very same issue recently and have left the kw catching dust since we didn't think of any other ideas at the time to rank it.
