Im unable to login to twitch on an old version of Firefox. Version 55.

What happens is i try to login, i get to the page where they want the code you receive in your email, and when i input the code Twitch just reloads a few times and im back where i started, not logged in.

While the page is refreshing, its like the first refresh displays the icon in the upper-right corner of the screen as if im logged in, but then the next refresh takes it away. It all happens fast.

I tried changing my user agent to mobile, but then i cant even login on the mobile version of Twitch because theres no login button.

I tried changing user agent to the latest version of chrome, but the same problem as i described above.

Tried clearing cookies and cache. Tried disabling all extensions. Tried using private browsing/mode/window. Same problem.

I tried logging out of my twitch account and logging in on my main Firefox browser which is a few versions old, and it logged in fine.

I tried creating a new twitch account, and it worked. But when it got to the last step it just got stuck on loading and loading. But i received the email to verify my new account and everything. The acccount got created successfully.

At this point i could say okay, twitch not working on this old version of Firefox anymore. However i have a number of browsers which are logged into twitch, and twitch works fine there. So what, theyll stay logged in until some cookie expires or whatever, and then once they get logged out i wont be able to login again? And what about the new account i created, how could that be successful if Twitch wont work on this older browser?

What do you guys think?

I downloaded a clean version of Firefox v55, same problem. I updated to v56, same problem. I updated to v72 and it logged in fine.

All right, so it's not a Twitch problem per se, it's a browser compatibility with Twitch problem.

Well that sucks...

At this point there's either a workaround to make a website think you're using a different version/browser, or there's simply some key function/s missing on the old browser that can't be faked and so the website will never work on it as it needs these functions.

I tried again with different updated browser user agents, and it doesn't work.

Well that's it, Twitch sucks :p

So I may have located the problem. I looked at the console while trying to login to Twitch, and I see this:

Code:
TypeError: NetworkError when attempting to fetch resource. (unknown)

downloadable font: download failed (font-family: "Inter" style:normal weight:normal stretch:normal src index:2): status=2147500036 source: https://static.twitchcdn.net/assets/inter-latin-400-normal-10194357ec5e44ae1777.woff core-dd8614eca2412b8e6a40.css:1:65076

downloadable font: download failed (font-family: "Roobert" style:normal weight:normal stretch:normal src index:1): status=2147500036 source: https://static.twitchcdn.net/assets/Roobert-Regular-d8c9f381df585bfa97ad.woff

So I did a bit of googling and found this:

So apparently Firefox (at least the older version) doesn't support Woff fonts... whatever that means.

Any ideas?

So, the problem is... the challenge. They use Arkose Labs for checking if you are a bot or not. This version of Firefox, fails this test.

Code:
meta.loading_info Working, please wait...
meta.visual_challenge_frame_title Visual challenge
meta.reload_challenge Reload Challenge
meta.generic_error Something went wrong. Please reload the challenge to try again.
meta.api_timeout_error The connection to a verification server was interrupted. Please reload the challenge to try again.

Code:
error Please complete the CAPTCHA correctly.
error_code 1000
error_description captcha incorrect

If you go to Network > XHR you will see a 400 bad request. If you click on it, you will see the message in the right side. The only workaround for this, is to make the captcha show (probably they use the woff font haven't dig dipper).

I tried disabling all extensions. I tried using private window. I tried clearing cookies and cache. Nothing works.

Any workarounds for this?

Is a browser issue - tried with a clean version of Firefox. Probably not related to woff but to something else.

Okay, you locating the problem helped me solve the problem, with a BlackScorpWorld workaround :p

Anyway I didn't know what the problem was, but you telling me it's a problem with the login captcha (assuming you're correct) told me that you can probably still use Twitch just as long as you manage to login. I've had these experiences before with various sites, where you disable extensions or change IP address in order to login, and after you login you're in the clear and you can use the site no problem even with previously disabled extensions enabled, even with the previous IP address, etc.

So I did something cool, cuz I'm awesome :D

Oh by the way you should not use this word so lightly :p

The only workaround for this, is to make the captcha show (probably they use the woff font haven't dig dipper).

You said "The only" workaround. You can't say that. That's not cool :p

I added this extension to my main and to my old Firefox - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/a-cookie-manager/

I exported the cookies from my main Firefox and imported them in my old Firefox. I refreshed the page and I was logged into Twitch with the same account as I'm using on my main Firefox.

And now it's just a matter of using a newer Firefox to log into the Twitch account I want to use on my old Firefox, exporting/importing cookies, and it's done.

That's what happens when you're Scorpion Ghost, Jr. Executive VIP of Blackhatworld and Master of the Universe. You figure the shit out

Still, just between me and you, you informing me of the error allowed my mind to get to this. I wouldn't have gotten to it without you :p

Edit: Suck my d*ck Arkose Labs. Taking away my right to use an older version of Firefox and access a site. Taking away my freedom. And guess what? I'm gonna bot Twitch now. And you get paid to prevent that. You failed. You failed your customers. You're fired :)

I hope mods will add more Jr. Executive VIP's on that tiny list :)

Let me give you some inside info.

The first rule of adding someone to Jr. Executive VIP is you can never say on the forum and outside of it that "The Only" way to do something is bla bla.

I'm afraid you're now on blacklist for Jr. Executive VIP  :weep:

hahhaha just playing. I'm sure they'll be adding members as time goes by. If there's ever a vote about who should be added, I'll vote for you :D

Okay so I'm feeling pretty pumped about having figured this out.

I actually have no experience with moving cookies around browsers. I tried it once long ago, and it didn't work out. And now it took me some time to figure out, and I was pretty sure it wouldn't work, moving cookies from Firefox 2022 to Firefox 2016 and shit. No way bro.

But to my surprise, it worked. It's unfortunate that I'd dead tired and I have to go to sleep and can't continue with what I was wanting to do. But whatever, I'll knock it out of the park tomorrow.

Okay here's a cool song to end it, and I'm outta here

Some websites, generate the cookie based on user agent. If you will ever encounter this issue, just change the user agent on a newer browser with the user agent from the older browser (where you use your tools), so you have a cookie based on that user agent.

Okay so this moving cookies business works for Instagram too. It's very weird though.

I'm logged into Instagram with some Palemoon browsers, and now I tried to login to the Insta accounts with an older version of Firefox and it didn't work. I kept getting some errors like Instagram can't connect to the internet, or you can't login now, try later, shit like that. Then I tried latest Firefox, and the same issues. I tried various user agents, same issues. WTF?

Then I tried using various proxies, and even tried the same proxies that I'm running on the Palemoon browsers, and I had the same issues. But how can that be? Here I am logged into Insta with Palemoon, and yet on the other browser with the the same IP address and everything the same, I can't login, can't do password recovery, can't do shit.

So I played with my Palemoons and I could use the profiles normally, but only with 2 out of the 3 user agents I use on these few browsers. These are old mobile user agents. The 3rd user agent would give me errors.

So what's a guy to do? I exported Instagram cookies from my main Firefox and imported them into one of the old Firefoxes, and surprise surprise, I was logged into Insta. But then I was getting errors trying to use the account, so I set the user agent to one of the older mobile ones like I have on Palemoon, and then I could use the account normally.

So now I wanted to move the Instagram cookies from my Palemoons to my old Firefoxes, but the problem is I can't use the same extension on Palemoon to export cookies. FUCK ME. So what's a guy to do, I opened the .json file that I got from Firefox and I manually inserted all the cookie info from one of my Palemoons. I had a problem that Firefox gives me 12 cookies for Insta while Palemoon gives me 9 cookies (it may be more, but only 9 are the same anyway). So what's a guy to do, I thought about it for a second, and I simply removed the entries for the 3 extra cookies from the .json file.

So then I imported the edited .json file in my old Firefox. Super long shot. I open Insta. Surpirse surprise, I'm logged in correctly with the same account as I use on the Palemoon where I copied the cookie info from.

I used the account a bit, and, it works

If the above didn't work I was planning to login to the accounts one by one in order to get my cookies, while restarting my router (dynamic IP) between logins and clearing cookies/cache on the browser. Good thing that copying the cookie info from Palemoon actually worked, saved me lots of time and effort.

It's hard out here for a pimp man... :D

A piece of advice here. Always have all your accounts fully verified, photo verified, birthday, phone number verified, dick pic verified, everything. And make sure you have access to all of that info and to the phone number and the dick. You'll sleep better. Well, unless you're churning and burning for real, then whatever :p

So just to say, getting the cookies .json file and opening it and pasting in the cookies info also works for Twitch. It's just a bit more hassle because Twitch puts more cookies in, so it takes a bit more effort to copy paste everything.

And you gotta be fully focused and careful when doing it, because one little mistake and you import your json file and it doesn't work, and then you gotta start again. So don't be doing this and trying to jerk off at the same time hahahaha :p

I use pale moon a lot, and I do all my cookie imports and exports using TXT netscape cookie files.
That's the XPI file, edited for PaleMoon compatibilty:

I haven't used legacy Firefox in a while so I don't know if it'll work, but worth a shot. The latest version of FF has a Netscape cookie export plugin, search the add-ons site for "netscape cookie".

What about importing from Palemoon to Firefox? Both Palemoon and Firefox old versions.

Because copying and pasting cookie info gets old fast.

Actually, I have an idea which may work. I'll give it a shot in a bit.

I haven't field tested this, but I think copying and overwriting cookies.sqlite, webappsstore.sqlite and places.sqlite may work.
