Lately I’ve found it really hard to search and join Facebook groups from other countries. No matter what keywords I use, results are mostly from my own country. Has anyone figured out how to reliably find and access groups from abroad?

Because Facebook prioritizes showing groups near your geographic location and language to improve user experience, when searching, you often only see domestic groups. To search for foreign groups more accurately, you can try changing the Facebook language to the language of that country, using VPN to change IP to the country you want, and searching with keywords in the local language.

You can try changing your Facebook account language and location to your target country, then search again using local keywords.

Yes, fb algorithm has been pushing local stuff hard lately. You can try to use a VPN set to the country you're targeting, then search in English + the local language if possible. Also, you can check Reddit or niche forums, people often drop direct links to active global groups there.

It’s likely due to Facebook’s geo-based search results. Using more specific keywords, language filters, or joining via direct invite links from members in those groups can help.

yes, i also think fb’s search heavily personalizes by your location, language, and network...so you’ll often get local groups first. let's try changing language and region : Settings & privacy > Settings > Language and region - set display language to the target country’s language and region to that country

FB prioritizes displaying groups closest to your location. If you want to reach groups from other countries, you need to know the full group name or group link to be able to join.

You should prioritize using their language to search, so the displayed results will be closer. Searching for foreign groups will be a bit difficult now.

Because your account is used in your country, Facebook will give priority. You can use a proxy or change the country location to search.

If you search using a GEO + the group type you should get groups you are looking for.

Los Angeles Swip Swap gets you this after going through their steps where they ask you to name a city after putting that in the search bar:

Since your account is accessed from your country, Facebook will prioritize it. You can try using a proxy or changing your location to search from a different country.

You should search using their native language to get more relevant results. Finding foreign groups can be a bit challenging at the moment.

You can use VPN to change your account IP to the country you want to search, and use their language

Facebook's algorithm definitely prioritizes local groups based on your location and language settings! Here's how to find international groups: go to Settings → "Language and Region" → temporarily change your location to the target country, then search for groups. Use English keywords even for non-English countries, search with location-specific terms like "NYC entrepreneurs" or "London marketing," and try searching through Facebook's main search bar rather than the Groups section directly. Another trick: find one international group member, click their profile → "Groups" → see what other global groups they're in. Once you join one international group, Facebook's algorithm will start showing you more similar groups. Clear your search history in Facebook settings to reset the algorithm bias toward your location. Which specific countries/regions are you trying to connect with, and have you tried changing your language settings temporarily while searching?

to find fb groups from other countries, you can try searching for keywords in the local language of that country. also consider using a VPN to set your virtual location to the country you're interested in, which can help Facebook's algorithm show more relevant results

Yes, Facebook tends to prioritize local content by default. To find international groups:

Use keywords in the target country’s language
Add the country name or city in your search querySwitch your Facebook language/region temporarily in settings

Try searching via Google with: site:facebook.com/groups "keyword + country"

These tricks usually help surface more relevant groups abroad.

Use that country's IP and Language to find the content you're interested in

You can use VPN - Proxy to change your FB account IP to the country you want

Hey, it’s annoying when Facebook keeps showing local groups despite your efforts, right? Try using the search with specific country names or languages, like “travel France,” and filter by location in the Groups tab to dig up foreign ones. Have you experimented with a VPN to switch your region and see if that unlocks more options?
