Hi guys!
Please give me an advice on how to proceed with my coupon code affiliate program and how do I find some people to promote my stuff, as I feel like I am completely lost at the moment.
I have a product that sells well but I am struggling getting traffic to the website. I am not much of a digital marketer myself, so I thought that getting some affiliates to promote my product would be a good idea.
I have a very limited budget at the moment, and so I decided that instead of joining Shareasale.com for an upfront payment of ~$500 (or any other similar affiliate network with lots of mixed reviews), I would rather set up a homemade affiliate program based on discount coupons. The idea was as follows:
- I generate a bunch of unique reusable discount codes (-25% or something like that)
- My affiliates post a short description of my product along with these codes on their social media
- Each affiliate gets notified via email automatically when his/her coupon is used
- I pay a 50% commission on each order made using these coupon codes
I thought it was a brilliant idea, as there are lots of guys with several tens of thousands of followers in Facebook and Twitter who are my target audience. Just one Facebook post or tweet would result in several hundreds of dollars in commissions for them. Besides, it does not look as "shady" as directly posting affiliate links - in fact, it must be adding value to their audience because the discount percentage is good and the product is relevant.
So I made a list of about 100 of these guys with good social media following (from about 5000 to 50000 followers) and emailed all of them with my offer. And guess how many of them agreed? None. Zero.
So now I am scratching my head and trying to figure out what did I wrong and why people refuse to monetize their social media and what do I do about it.
Guys, can you please give me some advice on how do I change my tactics? Is using coupon codes a viable idea or am I missing something? And why do people with more or less massive following refuse to promote products on their social media and what can I do about it?
