So I need a dentist, and there are no dentists in my city. It boggles the mind.
There's a technology when they put a crown on a tooth, where after they've removed the root canal and prepared the tooth, you go in and the crown is created on the spot and put in within 1-2 hours. I think this is called Cerec technology. They take the imprint using a computer scanning thing, and then they create the crown using a machine, it only takes about 30 minutes. And then they put the crown on, and you're on your way home.
The more traditional method of doing it is you go in and they take like an imprint of your teeth using some disgusting gummy material. Then they send the imprint to a technician to a laboratory somewhere. Then they make the crown in the laboratory and send it back to your dentist. Once your dentist gets it, you go back to get it put on. However, if the crown isn't perfect, the dentist has to send it back to the laboratory to be fixed, at which point you have to go back again once it's returned.
And never mind the hassle of going to the dentist multiple times, the real problem is that this traditional method of doing it is not as precise as the Cerec technology. And I'll tell you a story too...

The first crown I ever had put in my mouth was done with this traditional way. For the next 3 days after it was put in, I was on my hands and knees in pain. I was in horrible pain. I remember wondering if this is normal, and if every time someone gets a crown put in they have to deal with so much pain. I mean, there's like 32 teeth in your head or whatever, and if you're gonna get 32 crowns in your life, you're gonna have to go through that amount of pain 32 times? No way!
A few months after that I changed dentists, and the first thing we did was remove that crown. I remember feeling a sense of relief once it was removed. The problem was that the crown was too wide, and it stretched out my gums, and that's why I had so much pain for 3 days. After 3 days my gums sort of got used to it, but they were always very sensitive around that area.
Anyway after that crown was removed and a proper sized crown was put in, a few months later the sensitivity went away and I was fine. Since then I've had a number of crowns put in, and I never had any huge pains or problems.
The problem is that that fat bitch who put in my first crown, instead of sending it back for a correction, she just jammed it in there. And I suffered...

For the past 3 years I had the best and most expensive dentist in my country, and everything he did was done perfectly. I used to think that I have unrealistic expectations when every time I'd go to a dentist I was unhappy with the work. But my last dentist proved me wrong on that, so he proved me right on the fact that the rest of them sucked!
But the problem is that a few months ago I moved to a different city, and even though my city is the 3rd largest city in my country, there is not a single dentist that I can find who offers crowns done using Cerec technology. Never mind the fact that they all have offices and faces and websites that just don't inspire trust and don't fill me with confidence.
Yes, I do judge a book by its cover, kiss my ass

And now I don't know what to do. If I go to my old dentist, who is in the capital city, that's like 4 hours away. And I have a couple of things I need done, and it can't be done in a day or a week.
It's like, when you get a root canal done, they put in some medicine and you have to wait for a week or ten days to see how you're going to react, to make sure you don't get an infection or something. And if you do get a negative response, then you go in and they clean it up again with the needles, put in some medicine again, and you wait another week or two. It's how it's done.
So if I go to the capital city to my old dentist, who knows how long I'm gonna have to stay there. And never mind that, he is really really really expensive (for my country standards). Like, what another dentist does for $200, my old dentist does for $350. And of course I'll have to pay for the trip, and accommodation, etc.
But the good thing about this dentist is that once it's done, it's done. Like, whatever he fixes, it's fixed, period. When you walk out of the office, you can smile, because it's over, perfectly done, you ain't gonna have no problems.

I guess I should thank my lucky stars that I don't live in the US or some 1st world cuntry where just stepping foot at a dentist's office costs like a million dollars... and with no guarantees they'll get the job done right.
But I'm kinda bummed out. I don't know what to do. What do you guys think?
