canonical

I dont get how canonical works ..if i have 2 pages with same content do i set the canonical tag on that page i want to rank? and leave the other page alone?

Canonical tells bots what is the main source or a master page.

Put the canonical tag in the header to tell bots right away which page rules and should rank.

Canonical on the "sub-ordinate" page should point to "master" page.

Canonical on the "master" page should point to "master" page.
