Canonical tags for duplicate images

Hi,

I have a couple of different websites, all in my name with my author tag.

Can I use the same images on all of my sites or will Google think it's copied content? Even though each site using the images would be mine, with my author tag. Do I need to use a canonical tag to one "main site".

And is this just bad SEO?

From a UX it makes sense because sometimes the images can be a crossover and helpful on each site. For example, a recipe for banana bread might be beneficial to have in my recipe index on 3 of my sites.

Yes, it's okay to use the same images on your different sites if they make sense there. Just use canonical tags to avoid SEO issues.
 
Correct use of Canonical is critical. I've seen many sites ruined by Canonical errors.
 
I've had different tests with this, it used to work without any problems,
After the last updates it's kind of hit or miss, all up to G & the websites,
Find a different way to get unique images is surely better, be creative, it doesn't necessarely to cost much time/resources

Why not hotlink the same image with the same URL instead of reuploading it
