Cancel adsense account and get payment

Hi, I've heard that if you closed your adsense that have balance below the threshold you will still got paid
Does anyone here actually did that and got paid after canceling the account?

I did this twice, but the main thing is that the account was confirmed (entered the PIN code). And the money is sent within 2 weeks. No matter when you do it. There is no link to the date of payment in adsense.
