Hey guys. When I apply to a CPA network they always ask for a SSN. That's American though? As a Canadian do I have to give out my SIN? I don't really feel comfortable giving it away. Must I register a business and get a different number from that to use as a replacement for my SIN? Thanks guys. Looking forward to the responses.

as an EU pub i never give out my tax id nr, because it's not required, it's only optional on the w8ben form
as a Canadian you may have other rules to follow :)
what kind of tax form do you need to fill out?

you can always ask your AM though

To tell you the truth I don't know what kind of tax form I need to fill out.

On a CPA networks sign up page do I put something fake if its American? I don't have a SSN.

no, apply with your real data, you cannot fake the SSN

you need to submit your tax info after approval, not before it

here's the w8ben i was referring to:
Code:
http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw8ben.pdf
you can see that the tax id nr is optional if you're not from the US, so if you're not a US citizen, you don't have to provide that when you fill out this form

most of the networks are US American, but if i'm not mistaken one of the biggest networks, Maxbounty is a Canadian company, so they may require your SIN

but there are Canadians on the board, they can help, i'm not familiar with the Canadian regulations regarding to this, sorry

If your Canadian and signing up for a US based network, you do not have to provide your SIN, although they may ask to complete a W8 form, which is fine because you do not have to enter your SIN. Just your business name, address etc.

Like i mentioned earlier, just place *n/a* in the field and you should be fine.

Great! And by business name so I have to register a business or just make one up?

You don't need to register anything , just put Your personal name . and for the taxes you will need to to send the network a signed copy of the w8 .
As far as income taxes go after that , there are treaties between Canada and US . If you are to bank big 10-15K+ per month , register an LLC in US so you can claim all expenses ( Internet connection , Rent if you are working from your place and renting it , All Online expenses [domains , hosting , ppc , etc....]) .
