I would say almost everyone here can swim, so it is not any special skill (and we dont have a sea). But I wish OP a lot fun with learning.

My Grandpa just thrown me in the middle of a river when i was 8 y.o. and i instantly learned how to do it.

When i was in UAE a few years ago, i went to Fujaira and there decided to swim to the cool reefs that were around 1 km far from the beach. When i decided to swim back - the refluence had started and i was scared af and spent around 2 hours and all my swimming skills to get back to the beach.

Ofcourse i do ..
I learned to swim when i was 6 years old and I will ask them to put some water to my grave when im dead lol

I live near the sea so the swimming part comes naturally at a very young age
