Can you still earn these days?

Hey Blackhaters I have one big question to ask,and it goes something like this:
can you still earn money by selling stock photos or vector images online on microstores like istock?
I've read that if you manage to get a good portfolio,you can bank some prety good cash from it,BUT...
this info was from posts that were created 1-3 years ago.
Now,the problem why I am having doubts about it is because these sites have got A LOT more sellers and designers and i thought
"is there any chance to sell my stuff if customers can simply buy popular ones from sellers
that started this job years before me?"

So,in short,what I'm asking of you is just to fill me up with this info:
1.So are there chances to earn good profits by selling your designs?
2.If so,maybe you have some tips or a plan to get me started quicker and easier to see the numbers?
Btw,I have a bit of skill with illustrator and can create a photo like vector image at a rate of 1image/1-2days.

Dear, im suggesting you thatif you are able to design a custom designs you can earn more than you think, no need to provide it to istock or some websites, try to sell by your own by creating your own blog, or website, its more useful that earn directly, and the place now a days is graphic river where you can sell your custom made designs or illustration as many times as you want.
