Can you replace numbers in content without duplicate penalty?

So I have a 1,200 article that is getting traction. For example, how to bench press 400 lbs without supplements. Could I just duplicate the article and replace 400 with 300 etc without penalty?

If you have several subtopics in your long article, you can make new blog posts with these topics. But you need to delete your original post.

Replacing numbers in content generally will not result in a duplicate penalty. However, if the replaced numbers are part of a larger block of content that is duplicated elsewhere on the site, that could result in a penalty.

Over the years I have come across clients who already had it this way on different pages and it worked well for them, i.e. pages with duplicate content where only the titles were changed. I don't recommend it because it is always better to have unique content if they are different pages, but I encourage you to try it and share the results in the forum. Remember that duplicate content is not penalised.

Better to write a unique or close to a unique article for each term.

We did the same a year ago whereby 50 posts or so were 50% similar i.e. we changed either the keyword and a few sentences here and there. Seems to us Google picked that up, not a penalty per se but they're not doing well. I would advise to simply rewrite original content all the time. More dumb work I know, but that way Google can't see you're having duplicates.

This is what I would do if it were on my site (I've done this as well).

The topic is super relative and should be added into the 1200 article. I would write a brief teaser of about 200-300 words about 300 lbs and insert it to the article where it makes sense. (After the 400lbs portion, because this is still the Main topic). I would also include 200-300 words for 200 lbs subject as well. Both 300lbs and 200 lbs with their own unique headers.

I would then link both 300lbs and 200lbs portion to their own respective article that are around 1000-1200 words each that you go into more detail based on the teaser. I would not copy each article and just replace the numbers.

Then interlink them all together again with teaser paragraphs.

Example:

400 lbs Main Article will link to 300lbs and 200lbs (200 word teasers each in the main article)

300 lbs Main Article will link to 400lbs and 200 lbs (200 word teasers each in the main article)

200 lbs Main Article will link to 400lbs and 300lbs articles (200 word teaser each in the main article)

This makes your topics relevant and not duplicate.

The fact that you said your 400lbs article is doing well will push your 300lbs and 200 lbs articles too. Also, If your visitors click on the links to get to 300lbs or the 200lbs article, it would push them up even further because of revelance and engagement. And trust me, visitors will want to know the difference between bench pressing 300 vs 400.
