Can you make money using amazon affiliate links through twitter?

If you post your amazon affiliate link on twitter and get clicks which lead to sales does this actually work? I received 19 clicks yesterday and no sales but just wondering if this leads to actual sales? Will amazon ban you for doing this??

They probably won't ban you for doing that since social media could be part of your marketing strategy.

According their site it's ok as long as it doesn't break Twitter's rules.

I'm hoping that by getting the clicks it may lead to eventual sales. I'm probably annoying a fair amount of people by trying this but they have been clicking!

It is all OK. Of course you can promote it through twitter. You can also redirect them to your blog which may be an amazon store or an amazon based site.

Depends on how you are getting your clicks. Are people just curious and that's why they click or you are targeting them by some catchy text?

I was going to post a topic on this. I wrote a little script that posts amazon links to twitter, using hash tags and theme based accounts. I have been doing this over a week and am getting between 5,000 and 6,000 clicks a day. But not one sale yet from this.

Anyone have any tips, ideas or suggestions on how to target or convert better? I am sending all the clicks directly to amazon, so not sure if it would be better to setup a site and send the traffic there? But my fear with that is at least if someone clicks my link, visits amazon then comes back within 24 hours, I will still get credit for the sale, no matter what they purchase.

Thanks for any suggestions or comments...

I tried twitter with CJ got 100s of clicks but no conversions

the rate with twitter click that converts to sales is very low its worth a try ...

I think the conversions is the hard part. Click thru is easy but many do not result in a true conversion.

As mentioned before, there will be a low amount of conv. They key is to have ALOT of accounts with ALOT of followers on each.

Twitter is not a very good ecosystem to promote affiliate links to retail products because people being on twitter are generally not in the "buying mood". They are mainly there to socialize. A platform which may interest you is shopkaboom, which is relatively new on the scene and is specifically geared towards promoting retail products.

Yeah, i think for conversions you need to only be hitting the right audience, otherwise it's completely ignored as being spammy, even if people get "duped" into clicking on your link. they probably won't buy, and worse they would report the link as spam.

Twitter is REALLY about real people.
If you favorite author is sharing an Amazon link to his book - sure.
If you saw I talked about Game of Thrones and decided to use your 140 characters ( and NOT being familiar with me) to spam me with an Amazon link for the book - I'll report it as spam, and rightly so.

At any rate, Twitter alone isn't enough. Twitter couple with a powerful blog, filled with real followers - possible sales.

That's the gist.

I often use URL shortening service to shorten my amazon associate link and post to Twitter.
I use more than one account. The earnings are quite positive.

My guess would be due to the fact that most people are clicking those links on their phones. In my experience most people buy from their computers on amazon.
