I've tried every method... and I still have a few in progress that I'm not even looking to profit from right now... just building and coming up with ideas for it.

I'm not a good article writer in terms of being "Fast". I could write a great detailed article, just not in a fast manner and the time it will take me is unpredictable. And, I know if I wanted to take this serious I would have to be able to research the topic and write a nice and full article that flows with quality.

However, I've been practicing and choosing random topics to write about. One of the areas I need to strengthen is my punctuation and sentence structure. My grammar is great and English is my first and only language. I'm just not a professional at punctuation; I definitely could be better at that.

There's an article writing course that costs $79.00 and it includes: grammar and punctuation exercises, how to structure sentences, tones, how to make a article flow and how to research fast.

Is this worth it???? Should I learn and strengthen my writing and is it possible to make a living off of this????

What I've been taught about article writting, press releases, software programing, web desinging, and all this online stuff, it's that OUTSOURCING is king. While you could write a few articles here and there $25 per article, it's far better to hire a professionnal freelancer online, hopefully from an asian country like Philippines (their english is often top notch). You can pay them a few bucks per article, or a little more for press releases, then resell these as yours at full price. You make money in a bulky manner without doing ANYTHING. You're better have your own sales plateform thought. Hope that helps !

To answer your title question...YES

As far as paying $79 for the course...i wouldnt touch it and there's plenty of free resources to learn how to article writing

Shit you can use the search tool on this forum to see if anyone has shared article writing advice on BHW

Yes, certainly. I write articles, and I can sustain myself only from article writing.

Writing is a good way to fund your residual income. But if you can make living of it, depends on where you live.

Wow, I thought the most you could hope for here is around $7 an article. Where do I sign up for getting paid $25?

PS: really hope you can reply to PMs

I can't PM you right now, I need 15 posts or more. But I can answer right now on this post or wait till I get 15 posts. Your choice . . .

I don't know if it can make a living, but if you do freelancing works as writing, programming maybe you can. Also, if you have a blog you can still make money with articles, traffic, affiliate, cpc, cpm, cpa, etc but your blog must be a big one and with unique and high quality content.

Just buy a used copy of the AP style book. You can find one for about 5 to 10 bucks on Amazon. I wouldn't try any of those learn to write better courses, probably a ripoff. The style guide will tell you pretty much everything you need to know.

Yeah-yeah, definitely. Become a great writer, then charge a lot for your work. That way you'll be able to make an okay'ish income without having to work 16 hours a day writing 20 articles.

All about the niche and location, and if that niche has money around it.

Yes in the thread is fine :)

Well on BHW, that's right, $7 is generous. But out there, on your own website, it's a different game ! Take SEO packages, for example: on BHW, they sell SEO link building like $400 big maximum. But on independant websites, I saw INSANE max prices, sometimes close to a thousand and even more ! That's why if you want to sell your articles at big prices, you need to have your own plateform, like a website. But BHW is a must if you want to learn how to do SEO with your website, otherwise you're never gonna rank high in Google and sell much. Althought, $25 is a guess, I don't know how much you can sell them, but you can choose the price you want, this is YOUR website.

Yes, you can. Not to be harsh, but no one cares if you spend a lot of time on each article. Learn to write fast. You can write more articles per hour, which means you can charge less than your competitors (who are moving at a snail's pace) and steal all of their business.

If two writers are of the same quality, but one charges less, then clients will flock to that person every single time without fail.

Make sure you know what your writing is worth. Then, charge less than that, up your speed, and you'll be making the same amount of money while getting all of the clients. You have to treat it like any other business - there is competition, and you must crush it. Anyone can write. Client acquisition separates the boys from the men.

A lot of clients means constant work. Constant work means that you can make your hourly rate whenever you feel like it. It's much better to have steady work at X/hour than it is unsteady work at 1.3X/hour, especially if your livelihood depends on it.

If you can't beat your competition on price, beat them on something else. TAT. Customer service. Whatever. Preferably, beat them on all three, and you'll be raking in word-of-mouth business without lifting a leg.

Something to keep in mind: people need all types of content. I cater to people who need sales material and ridiculously HQ money site articles. Others cater to those who need quantity over quality. I don't compete with them, they don't compete with me.

Random tip: make sure that all of your forum posts are perfectly edited if you plan on offering a writing service to BHW. People will judge you on it whether you like it or not.

Good luck! This was just me rambling, so it might not be too organized. One more tangent - it's going to be harder to make it as a writer in NYC than it would be in Idaho.

Jared

P.S. Don't pay for a writing course. You get good at writing by practicing, and you get faster at typing by typing more. My WPM was ridiculously high in 7th grade because I played Runescape religiously for every waking hour of my life between 5th and 6th grade. Forum posting is a good way to get words out.

EDIT: One thing I forgot to mention. Getting good at writing isn't a method - it's a skill. Most skills are evergreen - writing certainly is. People will never stop needing writers. You just have to breach that initial threshold where you're good enough for them to pay you.

how to make a article flow
It's things like this that are small but really stand out and poke you in the eye. So my advice is as follows: if you really want to make something out of your writing you should try to decrease the occurrence of errors like the one I highlighted. Grab a grammar book, so you clear them out. Read a few books, as that would enrich your sense of flow.
I'm absolutely sure you can achieve this, that is - if you're willing to put the many hours, sweat and grind that this hefty task requires. Making a living using your talents is always possible, you just need to want it really bad in order to make it happen.

OP, just read through what Jared wrote. He's one hell of a writer, and a professional one at that. I can say that 'yes, I am able to provide for myself by writing content', but he actually does that. Not saying I don't, but I only freelance where as Jared is a professional. Now there's a bit of a difference.

Right now you can but in the future who knows? Every forum i go to the owners demand more and more from article writers for less and less money and writer are obeying. Right now the future doesn't look to good.

I've shared this before but it deserves to be reshared again.

This isn't exactly article writing but it's kind of related.

This guy makes $50k+ just by writing articles and uploading videos to his blog:

http://www.smartpassiveincome.com

Study his site. He actually provides a blue-print on how he started making all that money. Take notes and massive action. :)

Didn't read the replies, but check it out OP:

Yes. You can make an incredible living writing articles. A lot of websites and services underpay/undervalue themselves.

If you want to make money writing articles, here are the main steps:

1) Find a website who needs articles that you care to write about. In other words none of that crap where you get paid 0.01 cents per word. There are companies that pay up to $1 a word out there. Instead of getting $5.00 for a 500 word article (that is being generous), you'd get closer to $150+ depending.

2) It's good that you don't write fast. Write legitimately good articles that are intriguing and useful. The better you write, the more you make.

That's it man. Really. There are crap-tons of money to be made with articles.

Again, find a real content producer that needs articles. Not 0.01 per word crap. Then spend a whole day to write an article or two of VERY good quality and you get paid. Not ripped off.

This is BHW afterall, but article spinning/rewriting will not work for this. Companies that care about their content and pay very generously for it will see it a mile away.

A lot of misinformation in this post and let me tell you why.

1. If you go around charging $25 per article and have people from the Philippines writing it then expect a lot of
complaints. The client is paying good money for a Native English speaker to write it.

2. A few bucks an article is not going to produce quality work.

Start by writing them and then hire in-house writers. Can you make a living doing it? Yeah, even though I have a ton
of other projects and business' I manage. I have pretty much transitioned my in-house writers into working on my
authority sites and yes we still do writing for others.
