What exactly does pinning other peoples pictures do for me? They notice that i am active with their image? pin my own image means basicially upload an image then just click pin?

It will help you get noticed. Same with liking/retweeting other peoples' post on IG/FB or TW. And yes, upload your own image to your board or a board from someone else you're allowed to post to.
So repinning is like liking retweeting or liking. Boards are like groups/pages.

People can find you by keyword + hashtags. It's best to use a good intro/description + a couple of hashtags.

You can do both. You can upload and share photos, depending on your preference. Also, you can re-pin shares that are relevant to your niche. Either way, it can provide excellent traffic to your website. If you're targeting SEO optimization, uploading will help you further in ranking and getting traffic. On the other hand, re-pins can help your site as well because of their longevity.
