Can You Help Me Implement My Idea?

I'm a newb who has been reading this forum for a fairly long time. I joined because I'm finally going to take the plunge and hopefully put some of the knowledge I've learned here to good use.

Here's my idea: I recently graduated from a fairly small college in a small town. There's about four or five restaurants in the area and I would say that the average student goes out to eat or at least orders a pizza about once a week. I was thinking about sending out a mass email, because I still have access to all email addresses in the network, pretending to be one of these restaurants. I could offer the opportunity to win a free gift card, if the user followed the link to my website and completed a survey. If possible, the survey would have something to do with food to make it believable. If I offered a free gift card and didn't deliver after the survey, I would imagine that the students would catch on pretty quickly. However, if it is the opportunity to win one, and after the survey, the page unlocked with a form to fill out contact information in the event that the user wins the gift card, I could probably repeat the scam once a semester. There would be no winner and I doubt that anyone would question the outcome.

Do you think this is a good idea?
If so, how could I go about implementing it? I know that I need to make a fake email, build a nice looking website, find an appropriate offer and use a content locker. What is the best way to do these things? Also, am I missing anything?

This particular tactic has great potential. But you need to be as careful as possible. Remember that your emails are the most important thing. Spamming them is bad, but sending out just one email per address might not get you recognized. I am not experienced in mass email, but I would say this is a pretty decent plan. Good luck! You might want to look into the subject of mass-email before you spend any money. Also, welcome to the forum, I am sure you will find plenty of money making opportunities.

Idea is very interesting and if done correctly then it might actually work. But you would have to be very cautious with your attempts. For email marketing you can use many softwares which are easily available in google.

GTFO with your scam schemes!
I'm tired of things like this one and all these YT fake videos around. Find a honest way to make the others fill your damn surveys!

I am overlooking that this is a scam and getting back to the point of helping you build what you want. Please be aware that i do not like your idea because it is a scam but on other hand it might be good that after all the surveys they fill in, you just might be able to offer someone a meal.

This is easy to do, you do not really need a full website but a simple front page with that says a few things about what they wil get if they win and so on with a link to a survey website, most survey websites will have the option to redirect your visitors once they have completed there survey (normally to a "survey completed page") but in your case, you will want to redirect it to your application to win a meal form. To build something like this would take around 1 - 2 hrs.

To look official and to not get detected you would need to register a domain and add the option to be removed from the whois.

To mass email users, use a programe called PhPlist, it has the capabilities to create a template and send thousand of emails per minute.

Keep in mind a if you use just a one page site a lot of people may feel skeptic and the money you will make from this won't probably be that big.

Add contact pages and "as seen on" logos in order to make it look more legit.

By the way I do agree with Xp3r7. As a college graduate it's a bit sad that you need to resort to these small petty scams.

PS: Unless you pay for the domain anonymously this can still came back to haunt you.

Nightlurker and rankedsites, is it really that immoral? You've got me reconsidering. At first, I imagined myself in the situation. I figured I would probably fill out the survey if there was a chance I could get a gift card to the college town pizza place and wouldn't think much of it afterwards. Maybe if it works, I can actually send one of them a gift card. I don't even have to pretend to be the restaurant. I could be a third party and it would probably solve my moral dilemma.

Is there any law against doing this kind of thing?

I'm actually an actor. I make a pretty decent living, but with the price of living in NYC, it's not enough to quit my day job. I graduated from a great school, but I don't have any truly marketable skills except for writing. Honestly, if I could find a way to make $75 a day with a few hours of work, it would enough for me to get by. If you have any more moral ideas or can point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.

Of course plan B could be to actually promote one of these 5 restaurants????

hack your friends or your senior/junior "school" email. you can place something like keylogger to their computer. After you get "school email" just send it using that email from Library or any public computer on your school (Don't send it from your dorm which they can track you). don't send that email to your class or your department, only send to other department which has no relation with your friends/senior/junior. that's all.

Of course its a scam but in the grand scheme of things it does not actually hurt anybody.

I think at most you would make about 2-3$ for your efforts.

With your level of skill most people would likely skip over the email and not even read it. And the few who do will maybe click the link, see the survey and then close the page to get back to their email.

But I'm optimistic so I think you might make $1.4-$3 total.


The way I would do it would be to find a pizza related email submit.

But yea, emailing to college students is easy using the school email system. I used to be able to email all Biology majors, but I was such a noob in those days I didn't know how to really tackle it.

If you have access to emails like that instead of trying to scam them give them something valuable and many will be more than willing to give you money with no problem. Then you create a squeeze page and you send out emails giving away something of value free and people will subscribe to your email list then you build a relationship with these people and they will buy from you over and over again because you have gained their trust and you can do it more than once a semester because it is totally legit it's called listbuilding.

It doesn't really hurt anyone so for me I don't really care, however, if you get caught they won't see it this way. I just don't like the idea of people resorting to these petty things because most black haters are capable of much greater things if they get off the "work smart not hard" mindset and into the "work smart AND hard" mindset.

You could try striking a deal with some restaurant in the area like a 15% discount of the "meal of the day" when using a coupon code.

You could send the coupon code via email and when these people went to eat to the restaurant they would get 15% off and then you would get cut and the restaurant would get "the biggest slice of the pie".

Of course you would need to add some tweaks to do this anonymously. One way would be to harvest the emails and email everyone outside the school system.

The problem is that surveys won't earn that much money... so I don't see you making $75 a day that way. The people that make good money with surveys are the ones that are getting the users information that's why they are willing to pay you the bucks to begin with.

Your best option would be to think what skills you have that someone could be interested in and see if there is a market online for them. What can you bring to the table that people would be willing to buy?
