can you be penalized for 6000 profile links?

I have a question about profile backlinks. A few days ago my site, which doesn't sell anything, was penalized, and I can't figure out what exactly caused it. A week or two ago I got 6000 profile links created. They don't appear as links in google yet but they do exist. Is it possible that these profile links caused the penalty? I didn't do much else in terms of link creation. Are 6000 profile links a big red flag to google?

This site is not a commercial site and doesn't target any competitive keywords. It's about books and writers. I am a bit surprised google would even care about it.

don't worry about it 6k links isn't that many, you might just be experiencing a little google dance, you should return to the same spot possibly even higher in google, shouldn't be anything to worry about

Plus not all the the links will have been found anyway which will make even less of an impact, don't worry your site should be fine

I know people who creates 10x more than 6k a day, but remember that you must create some constant number of backlinks. If in a month every day you will make like 10k and in next month nothing for google it will be signal that something is wrong

A suddenly increase in your backlink can make your site dance or in worse case get deindexed. It all depends on the age of your site and you general linkbuilding activity.

Consistency is the key,if I were you I'd get anoother 6k.DO NOT PING THEM,as long as google keeps seeing links pointing to you constantly you'll bounce back.Nowadays if you do 6k and stop you're screwed,way to obvious footprint.
I like to use senukex to create bookmarks and web 2.0 profiles then repeat the process for the links from the above.
Then I use satelitte sites and do the same for them,then small but regular scrapeboard,scrapebox blasts.Keep it regular and you dont bounce as much.

link velocity is the most important part of link building

like people here say - build constantly or youre lighting up some red bulb there in google algorith
