Hello everyone,
I want to try to do something that might sound a bit unusual: I'd like to be audited by you. In particular, I'd like to receive an audit on the choices I made during my link building journey.
I believe this could be very useful to this community, since others could learn from my (I assume numerous) mistakes.
Short introduction: on mid-March I launched a new website that's supposed to be a money website. It's about mental health, and it's in Italian. My goal was to rank for some long/medium-tail keyword, start generating decent traffic, and then go to one of my clients (which offers products and services in the healthcare industry) and tell him "Hey, do you want this qualified traffic? Pay me!".
Below are the steps of my journey so far.
Step 1. Setup.
I registered a domain, set up a Wordpress blog, designed a brand Identity, created social media channels, and gave a "professional" look to the whole thing. I even drafted a privacy policy (very tricky when you're dealing with medical data in the EU).
Step 2. Keyword research.
With a paid Semrush plan, I analyzed the 5 most popular Italian websites about mental health, and I identified a shortlist of keywords with decent search volume and medium/low keyword difficulty (at least according to Semrush).
Keyword Volume Keyword Difficulty
#1 22200 9
#2 18100 24
#3 14800 27
#4 12100 16
#5 12100 27
Step 3. Content creation.
I then subscribed to ChatGPT Plus and started generating long articles with ChatGPT-4. I manually edited the articles to make them more readable, and then pasted them into Wordpress.
Step 4. Article optimization for SEO.
I used Yoast and Semrush's SEO Writing Assistant to optimize the articles for SEO. They all have a score >8.0.
Step 5. Buying backlinks.
I went on Fiverr (didn't know BHW at the time) and started searching for gigs in the "off-page SEO" category.
Here's the gigs I decided to buy (where you see the ****** there's d0follow with the "o").
80$ - 5 high authority redirects, 50 "foundation backlinks"
30$ - 100 do-follow contextual backlinks
55$ - 10 forum links
30$ - Increase Ahrefs' DR to 30+
12$ - Guest post on vaggioblog[dot]it
35$ - Guest post on resetweb[dot]com
10$ - Guest post on milanoida[dot]it
20$ - Guest post on ibeam[dot]it
10$ - Guest post on nellanotizia[dot]net
I'm thinking about posting a .xlsx with the Ahrefs and Semrush report I have about these backlinks, but I don't know if posting it to the public would be a wise move. I you want, I can send it to you via PM.
Anyway, after all this, the result I have is the following:

What did I do wrong?
