Can you animate your profile picture on Twitter?

I went to Gickr.com and made an animated image, but it looks like Twitter is not letting people do this anymore. I see that people have some images that are animated, why cant I do this? Did they make a rule against doing this or something?

I will give a thanks to whoever has the answer to this.

Twitter doesn't allow .gif formats...

You can save your animated images as a .jpg format...

No, i wish they did. Its old school but fun using gifs

I tried but doens't work, but still I see people nowdays having animated pictures and I'm still wondering what the heck is going on, I always wanted one.. explain why there are still animated ones plz

i've never seen anything like this, would you mind to link a profile with animated pic?
but i guess you should look for other ways to make your twitter profiles unique, like upside down tweeting

I personally think the reason is because they just recently changed their rules. I am so jealous, I wanted my posts to catch peoples eyes.

I found this article and it states that Twitter did just recently change their policy on animated avatars. Those who previously had one were allowed to keep them, and the rest of us are screwed. Oh well, now we know.

I found the solution. Just find someone else's twitter animated avatar picture and use theirs. It works
