Can wordpress handle massive amounts of articles?

So my question is, can wordpress handle massive amounts of articles(several thousand pages of content)?
Or should i look into another CMS?

How many are you talking about? I would say yes, but i've heard that wordpress tends to get a little bogged down when you get into the thousands and thousands of pages.
 
I've been thinking of adding content daily and continue to do so for a few years.
And i wanna be sure that i do it on a platform that can handle it so it doesnt lag etc.
 
I have seen wordpress websites with more then 200k pages. Don't know what plugins they are using to maintain these kind of blogs.
 
Wordpress is a blog platform which can hold all the pages you need to ask. Just look at thedirtycom has multiple pages and is not slow at all
 
There is no need to go for another CMS. Wordpress can easily handle the massive amount of article.
 
Yes, wordpress will work just fine.
Go with it you'll have no problem.
 
I'd say the problem would be server not wordpress.... mysql etc has to be well configured to work with this amount of data
 
Simple answer is yes.. And the reason is Wordpress is a best tool for creating blog websites. It can handle hundreds of pages without any problem; you can't find any better option than Wordpress for your website.
 
wordpress is great

when you get in the 1000's and it starts to bog down... change host!
 
On average hosting, wordpress is good for about 20,000 pages. Anything more than that will bog unless you find some other plug-ins that can really cache and optimize.
 
failblog.org runs on wordpress.

site:failblog.org says 260k pages . Alexa of 1k so I dont think you are going to have a problem!
 
wordpress should be able to handle it. ive not done it myself but ive heard of people doing it.
 
wordpress database can handle a massive amount of articles...the better question should be how much your hoster can handle I've seen huge I mean very huge news websites based on wp with thousands of articles and massive traffic...the sky is the limit
