Can we really make money by testing games?

There are lots of games lovers here, and I am one of them. An idea just came into my mind and for this i want to know is making money through game testing is possible?Can you please suggest some good video game testing jobs that aren't scams? Which sites are legit and which are scams?

I found this good resource http://www.firetrust.com/en/blog/chris/get-paid-to-play-video-games. Some of the sites that say you can get paid to test video games make you pay for a guide or something like that. But what I did find out is that it is no where near as easy as all of the sites make it sound (obviously). On the ones that I looked into you could sign up on a freelance basis and the company would send you a video game still in the developing stages and you have to extensively test it, and you get paid per glitch you find. So this essentially makes it if you want to any decent amount of money doing this, you are going to have to put in long days testing, like literally 8+ hours. Then you have write reports about the game etc.

I don't know if this sounds like your cup of tea, but it definitely wasn't mine! haha

Not to mention you probably don't get to choose which games you will test, so you may ended up testing games you hate and would rather not play at all and games that you might be dieing to see out.

Forget it, it is very hard to get into and not well paid.

I knew someone who did it and it's not as glamorous as it sounds. Basically, you're playing the same level for 8 hours a day looking constantly for bugs instead of actually enjoying the game. He stopped playing video games for a while after that job because it was just no fun anymore.

If you enjoy doing something, don't do it for money because it will ruin your enjoyment of the activity. Except IM

You will need to get hired by a company and most likely have a serious amount of programming and game exploit experience. You won't find much of this work freelancing. These are usually full-time positions and the people are well qualified and know what to look for in a game to try and get results not desired by the developers.

I sincerely doubt it.

For a short time I had a job as a video game tester. It is total crap, you'll totally hate games afterwards. Playing the same levels to do every possible scenario and look for every little glitch. You'l get games that aren't even interesting and have to take really detailed notes. The pay is also pretty minimal, it's really only recommended if your passion is game design, not gaming in general.
