Can we change our domain name?

We have a cannabis delivery service that's been going for about three years and we're in the process of rebranding ourselves as a premium brand.

That said, our current name is more of a generic sounding name, rather than a premium sounding name, and we want to know if it's possible to change domain names.

Can we change our domain name and retain our reputation SEO-wise and also with our GMB profile on Google? Or are we better off just keeping our current name?

You can change domain name. Just make sure to redirect properly EVERY page with 301. Keep the old domain name for redirection.

Thank you. When the changeover is complete, should I set the old domain's website to no-index? Or just leave it as is?

You don't have to set any no-index - just make sure the redirection is correctly set - each page should redirect to a new page on a new domain name. Remove everything from the old domain name.
 
Get a complete history and re-direct the domain properly make sure back links you did are live and pointing to the new domain name.
 
All you need to do is re direct the old domain and backlinks. No need to set no index for the old domain
 
Plan to set up 301 redirects from your old domain to your new domain for each URL. Ensure all content from the old domain is migrated to the new domain. This includes pages, blog posts, images Etc.. Not necessary to set no -Index

Once the changeover is complete and you've set up the 301 redirects, you should not set the old domain to no-index. The 301 redirects will already tell search engines that the content has moved permanently, which will help transfer the SEO value to the new site. Setting the old domain to no-index could potentially confuse search engines and disrupt this process. Just leave the old domain as is with the 301 redirects in place.
 
If you have active redirections already on your current domain (check your htaccess, a 301 plugin if you have one), ideally change them later so they go directly to your new website. It's more efficient that they go
broken url -> new domain
than
broken url -> current domain -> new domain

When you creating your personal brand domain name, how do you guys fix that when your last name is not so easy to pronounce in english?
My lastname is short (6 letters) similar to an incept chess player I not hope it is a bad negative word of meaning to people today?
Compare to a more complicated to speakout name like Gary Vaynerchuck (for me hard to spell) .
How do you guys fix this? Try to generate a nickname ? Any good nickname free generator tool out there ?

Do people today in modern digital world care about if a name is not so well to speak in english? I see many non english domain names today on Facebookpages too like Neil Patel ok, easy to speak but it's not an english word.

Or like Steve Wiideman (netherlands?) ranks in top of google the "SeoSteve" Do US audience people care about the name Wiideman today? So damm hard to find a short catchy domain name available with com domain.

To change your domain name, you will need to purchase a new one and link it to your website.
 
This should be done carefully. Make a 301 redirect of each old URL to the corresponding new one. This will transfer most of your link equity and rankings to the new domain. For GMB, you'll need to update your business name and URL in your profile.
 
you can hire professional to do 301 redirect properly, because if you fk it up, it won't end well, so make sure it is done well
