Some idiot has been spamming backlinks to some of my sites high ranking pages.

I suddenly noticed a huge jump in backlinks to my site. Upon investigation I found they all have anchor text like 'viagra' and 'penis enlargement'.

This is obviously an attempt by some noob to get my site deranked for low quality 'viagra' backlinks.

Should I be worried or should I not bother?

My site is over five years old and an authority site. I have never spammed backlinks directly to my site with scrapbox or xrummer.

Go to google webmaster tools and report the spammed links.

I think it is more damaging if your competitor blasted thousand of links to your site using your keyword as a sole anchor.

Na negative SEO is bullshit it doesn't actually exist.

Thanks for the response everyone. My initial reaction was not to worry but I wanted to be sure.

It can harm you if your business is not at all connected because Viagra is considered a "bad neighborhood"
You can use Google's new disavow tool to try and remove them
