If a username is already taken by someone else, does that mean I can't use that username?

Yes, you'll get a pop-up that says usernames must be unique.

An object in a database is not equal to bags of bologna we can both buy at the same time. An object is a singular entity that cannot be duplicated in any single database. The best you can do is make it sound or look the same.

Usernames cannot be duplicated on BlackHatWorld.
You can not use the exact same username if it is already taken; instead, you will require a variant (an additional letter, number, or word).

Usernames on BlackHatWorld (BHW) are unique identifiers, meaning they cannot be duplicated. If a username is already registered by another member, it is unavailable for new registrations
This uniqueness is essential for the forum’s reputation system, as it allows members to track service providers, verify "Jr. VIP" status, and check the marketplace history of a specific entity without confusion.

True, you can't, if still you need same username, try adding some numbers or characters to get unique name.

Yeah, of course your username is unique from others.
If everybody was called the same you wouldn't know who you're talking to.

Imagine all the mess it will create in the marketplace if it was possible.

You can't even take the usernames that were once used by 'deleted members'.

Actually, usernames on BHW must be unique; the system will not allow you to register with a name that is already in use by an active account. While you might see similar names (like "Mark" and "Mark1"), they are technically distinct in the database. If you really want a specific name that is taken, your best bet is to check the member directory to see if that user is active—sometimes staff may release usernames from accounts that have been inactive for many years, though this is rare and usually requires an upgrade or support ticket.

That’s okay with me because I’ve been in love with you <3
