I expect to have a a number of small mobile-oriented sites in a directory structure. (Don't know how many - starting from scratch here.) Each will be controlled by an individual small business or person (under different unconnected domains for different broad categories). Eg: business_user_domain/glasgowdogwalker business_user_domain/westendbeautysalon contacts_ad_user_domain/johndoe contacts_ad_user_domain/hotjenny etc. Each will have low traffic. But I can put in advertising etc as I like (they can switch that off for a fee). Any advice on doing that? I was thinking of using something like Plugrush for explicit contact ads type users, and more appropriate offerings for other categories. I'm a bit concerned though that as each individual sub-site won't get much traffic at all, and might not last long, this might not be the best of models. (I also intend building mailing lists of the "site" owners, but monetizing that is a different question.) Does marketing like that work on low volume sites? Ads need to be targetted for the individual subsite, not the domain as a whole (a dog walker is very different to a beauty salon). I'm basically starting out here and in IM am at stage 2 of the 4 stages of competence - I know I don't know what I'm doing yet! Any thoughts welcome!
