Hello, can this type of videos still work for a new youtube channel or it's just a waste of time ?

It looks like this type of content isn't working for the channel owner himself.
He's got 356k+ subscribers and only a few thousand views per video.

You should upload these types of videos as discovery tenticles, meaning you will be in the habit of doing videos, and also looking at trends, and when you find something that works, you might be able to redirec the channel to better content or start something new entirely that works better than what you were doing. These videos are popular yes, but there is also so many of them they can never get discovered. It's up to you to learn all about that, and what can be done to bend the curve of luck in your favour.
