Can This Strategy Beat the Over-optimization Penalty?

If Google's over optimization penalty is caused when you are targeting a specific term too heavily...do you think this strategy could beat it or at least save some time?

Instead of spending time building backlinks with related keywords and fluff keywords like "click here", "yourwebsiteDOTcom", etc. Could you simply purchase expiring domains in a similar niche as yourself and 301 redirect those domains to your money site, thus redirecting their keyword anchor texts as well?

Lets say you find 5 websites related to your niche that each have 20-100 natural backlinks. If you were to 301 them to your money site would you get 100-500 natural-footprint anchor links to your site?

If that would work, then you could spend a majority of your time building anchor links towards your money-keyword and then whenever you feel your keyword diversity is becoming unnatural, you could 301 a relevant domain towards your money site.

I don't think there is really an OOP, but I definitely wouldn't expect a 301'd domain with different keywords to help, but I'm very interested in you doing the test.

The biggest problem here is that is not possible for you to get so many "related keywords" websites, let alone with good natural backlinks already.

So what do you attribute the drop of ever major SEO'd and non-branded site to?

Most likely if you use natural anchors you'll probably not have to worry about it too much. Take a look at 10 footprints of natural linking sites and this will help you improve your strategy.

i saw a post yesterday of a guy that bought 50 domains and going to try it. i guess it could work good

I see your point, but it really depends on how specific your niche is. I've seen specific-niche domains pop up in auction frequently. But you definitely wouldn't be able to go out and get 5 relevant domains in one day for a very specific niche. Plus, this technique wouldn't necessarily require the domain have a high PR, all you really would need is the domain to have a good backlink profile.

Well yeah, but I'm wanting to see if this could potentially save time and effort.
