Can this be done?

I was thinking about recruiting some college kids or something, and have them go around trying to sell people something that most people could use, I could get it from about $3-$5 a piece on dhgate and sell it for $10-$15. I would give them a commission, I figure with 10 people selling 100 a month I could make some pretty good cash. Is this a viable business?

Well its not a bad idea, aslong as you can make a good profit while paying the college kids enough to keep them interested then go for it

Buy for $5, sell for $15 means $10 margin. 50% commission paid to student means you pocket $5 per sale. 100 sales per month is $500.

It's not as fun, but you could cold call businesses all day long and try to sell them on a website for $3000. It might take you a couple hundred calls per sale but you'd end up making a whole lot more.

Or, you could find a real legitimate need in the marketplace - a need that people (or businesses) are willing to pay top dollar to solve - and then offer to solve their problem. If you're on this board, maybe you know a thing or two about SEO, landing pages, PPC, marketing, etc. You already have skills that are worth thousands of dollars a month to the right businesses. Forget your current idea, up the ante several notches.

It really depends what product you will offer and what is your target audience. It is not as easy as it sounds if you do not make a good planning. The other problem is that college kids lose interest really fast and it is difficult to trust them 100%.

Other than that this business model could work just fine.

If you're trying to see if any students would be interested ask on Yik Yak. Especially this time of the year because literally EVERYONE is on that app complaining/procrastinating finals.
