More and more people here suggest to build passive sources of income. Can YouTube channels be developed and maintained in any way to act as passive sources of income? Are there people who are making consistent income on their channels without doing any active work on the channel?

I think YT is too competitive to get passive income. It was possible 15 years ago when people uploaded non-copyrighted content like old music, movies etc.
Some people still get away with movies. But it is very risky game.

Passive earning with YouTube is no longer possible. If you are going to take a small break even on YouTube, channel will become completely dead.

Same goes with other social media platforms. Keep it inactive for few days and views/engagements will drastically go very low.

Passive income is still very possible on YouTube. Choose a profitable niche and target the right audience for your channel to grow.

Oh yes. A few years ago I was making videos about an Amazon FBA software called Viral Launch. I was making around $3k - $5k per month with 1 video per week.

yes and no, because you still need to upload videos to keep the monetization active other wise youtube remove it and you have to reapply but that is for not uploading videos for more than 6 months, if you go for youtube upload really extra good hight quality videos every 2 weeks but the building and thinking what to do next to keep that income will always be an extra work becuse you need to put more effor for 1 video than multiple videos.

I think YTB is too competitive right now, it doesn't have as many opportunities as before

In 2014, I created a channel. I uploaded tech how to videos. Those videos gave me earning for 3 years but now those videos ro not rank.
