yea i know but i just thought on tumblr its on subdomain so it Wasn't as good as having a regular pr domain linking back to your money site?

Ok now I see your point. still I think the PR of the tumblr trumps the wordpress blog and thus makes a greater impact on your rankings

Seriously? If people stuck to only making related backlinks, a lot of us would have hardly any. Some of my sites have barely any competition due to the lack of variety in the niche. It doesn't have to be related. Link using both the WP and Tumblr blogs.
Yes I do agree that he has to use both. But he is asking for comparison and I am saying my experience with wp. Posting on related blogs always helped me and I am not saying backlinks have to be dedicated to that. I always use a variety but relativity does count.
I also second that.
