Hey,
I'm half joking...I just am confused by my new SEO hosting company.
Problem 1)
After seeing that all of my sites were on the same IP I asked my SEO hosting company why that was. After a bunch of hours they said "you can't have a unique IP for an add-on domain".
So that is problem #1. I use Wordpress, and Add-on domain is the ONLY way that I know to install WP in CPanel. Is there another way?
Problem 2)
So I contact these guys and ask them what the right way to install WP is, so that i can have any of my new sites on different IP's. The guy says "use add-on domains"...After about 10 minutes I don't know if I am stupid or if he is. I have one guy saying "don't use add-on domains" and I have another guy saying "use add-on domains"
WHICH IS IT?
Problem #3
They then tell me that my account is one main domain, with a bunch of add-on domains under it, and that ALL of those domains will have the same IP. I have a plan with 5 C-Class IP's and I guess I thought I would be able to take a domain and put it on one IP and a different domain and put it on a different IP.
I guess I thought that if I only had 5 domains/sites, I could have them ALL on different domains???!!! Isnt' that what "SEO Hosting" means to you?
They are telling me that no, that's not what it is. They are tellling me that all of my sites are on one IP, and the other 4 IP's that I bought are just sort of sitting there.... I don't know what they are waiting for, they won't tell me. Even their goddamn help page talks about how great they are because on top of the different IP's they also use different nameservers, so clearly "SEO" isn't something different for them. I thought it had a different meaning for a while.
I'm not shitting you!
HERE ARE MY QUESTIONS
1) What is SEO hosting, in simple terms! - Isn't it the idea that if I have 5 different IP's at my disposal I can use them on my sites? If I wanted 20 sites on the same IP I could've just stayed with Hostgator...that's what they were doing. NO difference there.
2) Can you add a new domain to your CPanel hosting without using Add-on domains? I can't find another way, but they are telling me it's wrong. If I can't assign an IP to an add-on domain, how the hell am I going to get NEW Wordpress sites on one of my 5 IP's??
3) Have I lost my mind? I don't think I'm a stupid person, but I have to tell you...these guys have me confused beyond belief. I gave up with their chat help and they didn't seem to care...
What the hell.
Thanks
