seems you picked up a previously deindexed domain.. this is often the reason why domains with lots of backlinks are dropped (who "forgets" to renew their PR3 domain that they have been building links for for the past XYZ years?.. ok.. some.. but not that many)

Hey, do you have Google+? Make some post on it and include the link. It gets indexed in factions of a second.
If OTOH this domain was penalized before, you will fight an uphill battle getting it back in....
