Can someone explain whats going on here?

Howdy Folks,
I am newbing my way through Instagram and growing a brand and a following organically, but its a slow go. From time to time I come across someone like this official_gunes on Instagram who according to Socialblade just added 9.5K followers this month! Account was mellow and gradual until about 1500 followers then in the last 8-9 weeks it exploded to 10k, and now to 21K... The followers seem to be holding, not disappearing. How does one do this?

could be: fake, invested in buying ads, clever marketing, viral content or via effective growth networks take your pick

Search for recent mentions of them on Google. Maybe they were cited in a big news piece.

Hello again,
This account did not get a pop from Google mention.
I also received a sales pitch in PM for influxsocial saying the account I mention is running on auto on Influxsocial, I seriously doubt thats the case.
Any other thoughts?
