Can someone explain what a PBN (Private Blog Network) is?

Can someone explain what puts the "private" in a "private blog network". In that thread, it talks about not being able to find the backlinks, and therefore not understanding why a certain site shows up so high in the search results. I'm curious how you hide backlinks and/or how a PBN enables you to hide backlinks, etc.

What people mean when they say "hidden PBN" is they don't give bot's from known link-checker's access to crawl your site, like ahrefs, semrush, moz..etc..etc..which means your links wont show up when someone do a search for your site.

If somebody looked at your PBN and they weren't able to tell whether it was an information site providing genuine value or a PBN site set up for the links only then that's a good private blog network in my opinion. You don't have to hide your backlinks if your PBN is of good quality

PBN stands for Private Blog Network. A network of sites which are owned by you which you only know about. They are some precautions like hosting them on different class IP's/hosting. Used different themes and on and on. There are many things you have to do make it secure.

PBN is a new lame attempt at fooling bots when 99% of "white hat SEOs" throw up the same WP theme across several sites with junk links to every niche and its mother on it, making it completely transparent and lame.

Pretty simple..

Ppl need links from good websites to rank. Instead of begging the owner for a backlink.. They buy the website and create back links for themselves

All they care about is the domain ( this what backlink mention) so they buy expired domain.. Build website... And send a backlink for themselves

Private means you didn't buy it from a seller.. But built it by yourself

Shiit, I totally missed the private part of PBNs. Seems I've been creating a Blog Network. How would you go about to hide the backlinks and make the blog network invisible for AHrefs/Majestic crawlers?
