Hi everyone ,

I am not a native , although i am a good designer and developer.

i was having a teeth surgery today and it was painful , now i was googling how to take care of health to avoid future problems in eyes etc..and i stumbled upon this to prevent cataract in eyes :

The fatty acid pattern elevated the risk of cataract (OR=1.94, 95%CI: 1.1-3.86). Antioxidant pattern was associated with a significant 79% reduced risk (2nd category compared with the 1st). Omega-3 pattern was significantly negatively associated with risk of cataract

what does this mean ? what does "Elevated " means ? does this mean increase or decrease ?do they mean it will reduce the risk of cataract or what ?

sorry for being a noob , i hope people from this wonderful forum can help me.

Thanks

Elevate means increase/raised.
Does this mean omega 3 will increase the cataract risk ? can you please read the whole sentence if possible and give me an explaination..thanks for your help..

I don't know the context of that text but in simple words it could mean more fatty acid in your diet increase the chances of a cataract.

Ok , Thank you - still wondering omega 3 will increase/reduce the risk of a cataract :) :p

Negatively associated means omega 3 plays no role in getting or not getting a cataract.
what about this ? The higher doses of broccoli sprout juice give better visual cataract scores ?

I googled that text to read the entire thing and it means it prevents or delays the onset of cataract.

Side note : Don't read too much about this, the info online is conflicting and confusing and you'll only be more scared. Just eat healthy and stay away from packaged and processed food items.

it means that you are going to drop dead tonight!

either you are joshing us, or you really need to see your personal doctor. BHW is not a place to seek medical attention.

next thing we are going to see in BHW terms and conditions: if you are feeling sick, close your BHW browser and go to nearest emergency room. BHW will not take any responsibility for any medical advice given on the forum!

i still think you are joshing us.

Joined in 2012 and you still call yourself a noob?

Hammer on the way
you are not a mod to say that. i called myself noob because of the type of question not because of anything else.

if its wrong to say noob because of that i dont understand the exact meaning of noob i am not native.

It's better to eat what our brain wants. If my brain asks for sugar, I give it sugar, if it asks for salt I give it salt, etc. Every human body is different, what works for others won't work for you, etc. It's better to eat what your brain tells you. Don't trust commercials with vitamins, fish oil, etc.

That's exactly how addictions work tho. I get your point that commercials make a big deal about vitamins and supplements but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be eating healthy.

Eating what you want uncontrollably can have disastrous consequences.

It means that the fatty acid increase the risk of cataract
