I got an email with a PDF attachment.

The body of the email said "Ignore everyhing and just read the letter"
So, I clicked the PDF and it was a pornographic picture. (No surprize)

But there was nothing else!! No links to click.... No Watermark... No request for me to write back..... Absolutely Zero Call To Action !

Can someone explain how the hell this works as spam?
What's the purpose of emailing someone porn without a call to action?

You probably should email 'em back and let them provide some clarification... If you care ;)

OR...

Just report as spam/delete and enjoy the rest of your Friday :)
 
Whatever the email is none should click any link on email unless you want to loose your passwords to scammer.

Be safe.

Scammers doesn't have any weekend though.
 
Could be a PDF created to exploit a vulnerability given a specific kind of device (maybe an old or unpatched OS). For example https://www.threatlocker.com/blog/one-click-pdf-exploits

I didn't know that ! Wow ! I better run a check on my computer to make sure everything is OK
 
Every time I've gotten that kind of email, the pasted message in the PDF was just one of those "you sneaky masturbator, I have video of you on your webcam and if you don't send me $2000 in bitcoin I will send the video of you masturbating to your family".

I suspect your email had the same intention but the sender just forgot to send the letter with the pasted message.
 
Sounds like it might be a “seeding” or “warming” tactic.
Some spammers will first send harmless-but-memorable content to build recognition in your inbox or to get you curious. Once your email provider starts letting their messages through (because you opened them), the next emails might contain the actual CTA, phishing link, or malware.

Another possibility is that the image itself is embedded with tracking to see if you open it, basically confirming your email is active and monitored.
It’s less about converting you right away and more about validating your address for future campaigns or selling it to other spammers.

There's quite a few exploits like this where all you have to do is open a specifically crafted file, there was a short lived one which bricked your iPhone quite a few years ago ;)
 
PDF exploit, prob stealer based, never open random files...
