As you might have heard google will start penalizing websites that are not mobile optimized starting...today.
Other than that there is no point to over optimize your on-site. The website now looks natural and it should continue doing so. It's not 2008 anymore and there is no need to bold your keywords and show google that you are trying to game it.
So to make things short: optimize the site for mobile and put your emphasis on the backlinks.

In today world, responsive design of website helps in generating more traffic which will help in SEO but besides SEO, because of responsive design, site can be opened in any of the device like mobile, tablet at anytime, wherever we are.
