can some one help me setup my domain?

    i bought a domain used cpanel sitebuilder to make the site but i cant get on my site. Anybody know what i have to do to make it go public?

    Might be you need to change the nameservers at your domain registrar to the info provided in your host account. eg, ns3422.hostgator.com etc.

    do you not only change nameservers if you transferred your domain from somewhere else?

    The name server's A record needs to point to the IP address you have assigned to your site. You can check that by using any online DNS query tool. I just tried with dnsgoodies and the second box on the left showed the A record for a domain.

    One other thing to note is that dns changes are not instant. You change it on your dns server, then it replicates across the Internet. Typically these changes take a few hours, but they will take 2-3 days in some places.

    try and contact the register and make sure the domain does not have an Ican hold and verify that the dns are correct. also lots of times to transfer a domain you need an authorization code from the original or last registar to tranfer it over to the new hosting company. Good luck
