I stumbled upon this article below on LinkedIn by Ben Lee which got me thinking, Can SEO ever die or go out of vogue? cos it’s a tricky question.

“SEO is dead.
Google doesn’t care about your optimized blog post.
And Amazon isn’t fooled by your search ranking hacks.
If you’re thinking about paying someone to teach you SEO,
Don’t !!!
Save your money.
It’s ancient history.
You’ll be a 21st-century dinosaur.
What, then?
Content.
The kind of stuff people actually love reading:
-- Because it offers real, actionable value
-- Because they’ll tell all their friends about it
-- Because it’s just too damn interesting to click away from
And social media.
Putting yourself and your work out there in a genuine, human way.
And finally, good ‘ole fashioned paid advertising done right
Ads with punchy copy selling real products that solve real problems.
Where to start?
Learn from people who are doing it successfully.
Keep coming up with new and creative ideas.
Refine and clarify your message
Until you build a real following.
The catch?
A classroom won’t teach you how to do it.
And there are no shortcuts.
You’ll have to put in the hours.
— Ben Lee”

This days people focus too much on SEO that they fail to deliver valuable content. There's always a way to balance the two I believe i.e share valuable contents and still have the right key words in there.

Well am no SEO expert, what are your own views?

Only if search engines die.... so no :)

Well it's been dead for years, according to some. Others say PBN's don't work.... ha ha ha.

I'm waiting for the day when Google have paid ads for the top 8 spots and the bottom 2 are left for search seo.

It'll never die but in any case it still is important to never rely on a third party for your site's success/traffic. Google should never be more than just a part of your overall traffic strategy if you want your site to not only survive but thrive.

SEO practices die but SEO in general won't because search engines always need a clean way to find content.

SEO, like everything else (including Earth and our Sun) will die at some point. :)

People have been saying these things for years now.

Bottom Line: Factors that affect SEO will keep changing but SEO will never die.

when the search engine give the big pages so much power that they dominate everything than maybe ... i don't think its impossible that seo will be gone 1 day.

It's already dead...PBNs are no longer working. Stop bidding on expiring domains because it's a waste of money. I'll take them instead and save a bunch of people in the process...

Never if there is no SEO, finding best results is difficult for Google because thousands of blogs are hosting every hour. People with commitment and strong desire to rank are the one who put great efforts on SEO and they even pay to host their site for the next 10 years. Google knows it. So SEO will never die. If you talk about black hat that is another big topic. SEO only dies if google decides to remove organic results and use AdWords CPC bids for ranking on all pages

Of course it should die. Especially with advancements in AI the orthodox SEO strategies will eventually change. However, it doesn't happen in the near future for sure..
