Can Quantum Computers make mining ez pz?

Oh my. I have this quantum computer sitting in my office. Literally didn't think of using it for mining! :p

All jokes aside, I would imagine that the companies investing in and running quantum computers have other plans for them, but you never know. I bet they'd do a pretty decent job at mining.

Blockchains will move to PoS (proof of stake) when quantum is usable

Might be possible (sorry I don't have one at home currently :weep: ), but I don't think that's the point. If it could mine so fast, it could guess private keys so fast as well. So, that will be the bigger issue. Who wants to mine when you cam just guess the private key out?

Further more, with PoS; mining won't be a thing anymore; anyway; as those coins will be pre mined

I think mining difficulty rises according to computing power. So yes maybe with a quantum computer you could earn more bucks in the beggining, after that the difficulty would exponentially rise to match up its computing power.

There is no known way that quantum computers can break SHA256.

Maybe (i don't know the math behind) it would be possible to run a huge bitcoin collider ?
