If I'm using private proxies set up on my own server, is it possible for the sites where I use them detect that proxies are being used? I don't mean they can tell who I am, but just that I'm using proxies? If so, is there a way to mask this?

Thanks.

Not if you configure your proxy software properly, disable flash and java.

Flash and Java are capable of raw socket operations that could reveal your real IP address. :)

Go to http://www.ip.cc/anonymity-test.php

Either it'll say:

1) "You are using high-anonymous (elite) proxy (if you are using proxy)", and your proxy IP will be shown

2) You may be using a proxy, but your proxy IP is still shown

3) Your real IP will be shown

You want #1.

Also, make sure there's nothing in the HTTP_FORWARDED , HTTP_VIA, or HTTP_PROXY_CONNECTION boxes except "n/a Good!"

"You are using high-anonymous (elite) proxy (if you are using proxy)"

If you were using one, it couldn't tell.

WHat about rDNS setting? In order to set up an a high-anonymous proxy, among those setting listed above, do you have to make any changes to the rDNS? What if rDNS says the data center of my VPS?
