Can pillar page be landing/home page?

I'm trying to use the Topic Cluster technique for my site and I wonder if I can choose my landing page or home page to be pillar page?

All is fine.

Landing page should have great design and copywriting to convert, or at least to drive visitors to perform actions such as click links to your sub-topics or sign up forms.
It doesn't really matter what type of structure your landing page be like, one image, pillar page, wall of texts, etc etc

Design and copywriting is the key factor for a landing page.

You can make whatever page your homepage as long as it make sense.
For example Brian Dean made landing page his home page. Ecom have store page as home page. Small business have services page as home page.
