can people exploit your twitter acct just by following it?

i havent updated my twitter or tweeted anything in at least a month and i keep getting new followers. is there some exploit i don't know about?

Not likely an exploit -- unless you have given your password to a site to allow people to follow you.

People can find you via:
1. Email address
2. Other people that you follow that they then follow
3. Via keywords in yout updates that you made on the account
4. Voodoo magic !

All and all nothing much to worry about.

That said post later if something wonky is happening.

thanx. i just thought it odd since twitter is so of-the-moment that if someone was going to follow my topic it would be soon after i wrote it, not a month or so later.. haha. anyway thanx

Few months ago there was massive DM sent to people in twitter saying I found your picture here, bla bla bla...
We had to login to a page similar to twitter but in different domain, did you follow that link?

ON TOPIC: Perhaps you were following someone like frank kern or dana willhoit, people usually follow their followers hoping that those followers using auto follow back.

I recently started farming a twitter account by using the rough code I'm writing for a twitter farming service. First day I followed 1000 people and within a few hours had 380 followers. What I was surprised to find is that about 60 of those were people I wasn't following.

I suspect there's people out there who are closely following who others follow and matching. One becomes two, two becomes four, etc.

As for exploits, Twitter now does OAuth which will allow any third party service to use your account without ever having to get your password. I'm going to be using this to create a service that creates and follower-farms automatically, as well as providing follower-farming for existing accounts. Looks like I'm about a week away from something usable.
