Can I trust Copyscape?

Been using it for a while now. It works great for me, never had problems.

Use copyscape and "google is worth all the time to find results"

Copyscape is good, maybe the other blog post that same with your article is not indexed yet

CopyScape is quite good,you can also try some other alternatives like PlagiarismDetector,PlagScan etc.,

its good tool to find unique article checker

I always thought that it was pretty good, however the other day someone told me that their content passed copyscape that they purchased from someone else, but later when they analyzed it further, it really did not pass as the person they bought from did something to make it pass when really it was copied.

Thank you for your message, we are happy to be of assistance.

When performing a regular Google search online, uses their regular free search indexes.

As our system has to perform millions of searches for our clients each day, we cannot use their free search indexes, as they would blacklist our servers for abusing their free system. Therefore we have a business agreement with Google to use their alternative commercial web-indexes which we pay for.

As we previously explained:
The web indexes that Copyscape Premium uses when performing a search are not the same ones that are used when performing astandard Google search. In some instances there may be some differences between these indexes. The indexes we use also getupdated at different intervals to Google's main indexes.

For some reason these two indexes can on some occasions be quite different, so although you may receive some search results using their free indexes, you might not receive any matches when using our system, that in turn uses their commercial web-indexes to search for duplicate content.

CopyScape works fine for me.

They probably used Unicode. This is something that every content buyer has to watch out for these days! Unicode is basically just some characters that look like letters but they're really not. Copyscape doesn't check for this, so it will fly right under the radar with them. I even contacted copyscape about it and they basically said that they are aware of the problem, but with their software and setup there was nothing they could do about it. So there you go, copyscape is not 100% reliable for checking unique content. I no longer use copyscape anymore. I have a variety of ways of checking if content is unique, some which includes being meticulous about the source from which I purchase any content, using the free plagiarism checker: plagium.com, copying chunks of content directly into Google and few other ways should I feel the need to.

But before even checking the content, I ALWAYS check first to make sure what I'm looking at is real content by running it through a unicode checker. There's a few of these out there but this is the one I currently use: http://www.cynosurex.com/Software/Text Encoding Detector/
