Ok, I have a site that I spent a very long time creating the content for. Probably 100 really good original content articles. My webmaster made it using Dreamweaver but i'm making a new site using Joomla because it will be easier for me. It's my first website as well so theres a lot of things I dont understand. The website has been online for 7 months although he did a crap job on the optimization and promotion. I'd rather start fresh with a different site.

Is there a way to transfer the content to my new site and will google still view it as original content on the new site? Is there potential for google to penalize me for this?

Any advice is welcome

Thanks,

Hello,

I am using a tool called ORSUS UNO to transfer data from one web site to another

as long as you have access to the data base and a few simple tools such as w4rl0rdx said, you should be fine. also an ftp prog wouldnt hurt. filezilla is a good one . i use it, also free. if you want, just pm. ill try to help as much as possible walking you through it.

you should probably redirect to the new domain using 301s -

oldsite.com/article -> newsite.com/article

I want to take the old site down completely. It's the "name of my company.net" and i just got the .com so i want the other one gone

301 redirect will solve the problem.Since its a permanent redirect,google would not be imposing any penalties.
