hello

i have web site with 10000+ uv per day .. am running this website from godaddy server.. can i setup server in my house for this server.. am from india .. what speed i need to setup serrver .. any one know the procedure ??

Yeah you can setup from your home, All you need is a good internet connection, a static IP assigned by your ISP and port forwarding enabled. But the only problem is it will too difficult to maintain. It's better to go for a VPS/dedicated server which is very cheap these days.

"why pay for anything, I can do it myself!" << like it ... :)

yes .. am ready pay these moneys.. just want to know any one experience with this .. and wich ISP is best for this ..

"why pay for anything, I can do it myself!" LOL :D

First you need a proper internet connection with a good amount of speed which you can never get in India.. :)

Buy a vps or dedi from anyone in the US or other place cause this option will be the best for you..

My $0.02...

Yes it's possible for sure... but it would be way too expensive... and typically indian internet connections are very bad. I wouldn't run a site with 10,000+ UV per day on anything less than 100mbit full duplex.

i have seen 1 and 1 set up in india providing 1 gbs connection you should look it up

You can also use the bitnami stack and do the hosting. LAMPP/XAMPP can be an option as well. If you encounter any issues with these, ask the question on serverfault or superuser.com these are the stackoverflow channels where people can help you. More relevant forum than BHW.

Cost of the leased line and the dedicated IP from the ISP or domain registrar will go high in India. Just sayin...

That may be.... but can you honestly say it would be for a reasonable price?

1Gbps to a home is insanely expensive even in America.... i can't imagine the price in india.

not worth the hassle. you'd be better off with a vps under 80$ a month

OP is banking $10,000 / day from his traffic.

He doesn't want a Porsche, or a Lambo - he wants to host his website himself ~ !

:D
o my g ............................... i am earning $10000 .. thank you

but i said .. i have 10000 vistor not earning

Why would you even do that lol,

1) Your connection would sux no matter your connection speed because you are from India and everyone except you would have high ping
2) In USA and Europe you need to spend at last 200$ for 100mbps vdsl, and you can get that only in huge cities, it would cost you at last 2000$ per month in India
3) India have a electricity problems, every now and then you lose electricity, do you really want to have your website down for a long time ?
4) You would need to monitor your pc and your connection to make sure your web site is running good
etc etc etc etc...

And you can skip all that for 5 $ per month with average shared hosting...

India have a electricity problems, every now and then you lose electricity
Not in every state. Only some states have electricity problems.

As your website seems to be a commercial website so I think you should not hesitate to spend some sort of amount on web hosting expenses. Maintaining a Web Server at you home is not a good idea as you will have to set arrange data center environment for a single server. There are a few good web hosting services providers in India. Colocating your web server is another option for you as you just need to pay tiny amount as a rent to keep you server in data center.

10,000 UV a day means you are making over $3k a month, a dedicated server would barely cost you $200-400 depending on your needs.

Why do you wanna get into all the hassles of setting up a server at your home.

Further, you need high speed internet if you plan to host big websites.

its not worth it man, my partner tried it and failed miserably... i would suggest you not to do that, unless you have a lot of money to spare and you are doing this for educational purposes :)

On top of a server, power backup, leased line, etc., you need to be technically competent enough to manage it, in addition to handling hackers and cyber attacks.

You are better off with a dedicated hosting from a hosting company. Maybe you can bargain with them by signing up with an affiliate program or permanent ad space for them on your site and get some discount...
