Can I replace my desktop?

If I get the ipad 2 with 3G,and I use a good VPS,can I basically get rid of my desktop except for video editing? I run wordpress powered sites,and there is good app for ipad for it. I am currently using the ipad 1,and it is powerful but I need something faster.

Don't replace your desktop with an iPad...you'll lose too much functionality. I have an iPad, and I mainly use it for surfing or playing games.

iPad is junk, I don't care what anyone says, you are much better getting a cheap windows laptop for under $400 at least you will be able to run a lot of programs and have full functionality with most programs (even image rendering software even though it may be slower as its a cheaper pc)

Having just an iPad will just limit your potential.

You dont have to replace your desktop.If you replace desktop with an ipad you will see and notice the big difference with a desktop and ipad

You'd be shooting yourself in the foot in terms of productivity. At least get a notebook with a proper keyboard and the ability to run proper apps.

NO YOU CAN NEVER REPLACE YOUR DESKTOP WITH A NON FLASH SUPPORTING DEVICE

You can use your Ipad as pc for

1. using Facebook
2. Twitter
3. Checking wp stats
4. Emails etc
5. Play small games
   miscell:
   
6. Yoga teacher

I somehow feel like I'm being trolled but I'll go ahead and say that you absolutely cannot replace your desktop with an iPad. An iPad is something to keep you entertained while you're bored and waiting for the public transit, not to do business on.

replace your desktop with a drawing board?! great idea, chief...
get a decent notebook instead even if it costs 2-3x more than the ipad2 if you'd like to spend your money at all costs

i'll never understand the desire for bigger tablets in size like the ipad, it doesn't fit in your pocket, so you can't carry easily or you can carry it just as easily as the Macbook Air or a netbook, in functions ipad cannot come anywhere near a desktop, notebook

as of now i can't think any more useless but overpriced product than the ipad, but it's just me, there seems to be a high demand for tablets

iPad is perfect example of birthday present, but not a bh webmaster station to make money. So do not replace your desktop in any case.

Look into the EEE Slate, it's a windows based tablet. An iPad is limited as other members are pointing out. I bought a Samsung Series 9 a few weeks ago, it's light as a tablet and almost as small. It's crazy fast, uses SSD so boot up is just seconds. Highly recommended.

But can't I run alot of bh seo tools on a VPS or dedicated server,and manage it with a ipad 2 or similar tablet?
