Always have to remember, that everybody needs QUALITY backlinks. Not some random shit. "Example random blog sidebar link list where is hundreds of links inserted" .
I think the best is the quest post article backlinks.
Example: Someone writes a review of that digital product that is listed on your site. In this review text, there is a direct link to your digital products page.
Example: Someone adds your website link to some already made old article and indexes that article site again. " I think this is "niche edit".
If you just repeat those two examples many times. There are already a good number of backlinks available.

Well, the best backlinks are the ones you can not buy, like from quality websites from very known newspapers for example, they will push your website, but it also is about the age of your website, the older the website the more trust of Google, let your website grow naturally.

For a digital products site, maybe you have to try getting backlinks from reviw blogs, tutorial pages, youtube descriptions, that mention tools like yours. It´s really slower my friend, but much more effective long term that mass link building.
